Dr. G. Michael Murphy
Dr Mike Murphy, a native of Indiana, moved to the St Louis area to attend Washington University. After college he completed the four-year optometry program at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, earning his Doctorate in Optometry in 1985. Upon graduation, Dr. Murphy joined Dr. Robert Handelman’s practice in Alton, continuing as the Clinical Director of a large group practice after Dr. Handelman retired
Dr Murphy opened Vision Care Associates, Ltd in 2006 to address the total eye care needs of his patients, utilizing state of the art instruments and computerized medical records.
Dr Murphy resides in Webster Groves, Missouri with his wife Megan Wren, MD and his two daughters, Casey and Kelly. In his spare time he enjoys diverse hobbies including woodworking, karate, and photography.
Dr. Murphy is a member of the St. Louis Optometric Society, Southwest Illinois Optometric Society, Illinois Optometric Association, American Optometric Association and the Swansea Chamber of Commerce. He has been honored with a listing in the Consumer Research Council's Guide to America's Best Optometrists for several years (under "George Murphy")
